Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, so the parties run Friday and Saturday. Tamarindo has the most going on: a family party with a parade and costume contests on Friday evening, then club nights at Crazy Monkey, Club 41 and on the beach at Galleta de Mar. Zi Lounge has Coco's Halloween night on Saturday, and Liberia's public library hosts a free afternoon of Costa Rican legends on Friday.
